Sexual Assault

On January 13, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police received a report of a sexual assault in the area of Victoria Hills Community Centre near Chopin Drive in Kitchener. The victim was sitting in his vehicle when an unknown male approached him. The victim rolled down the window in efforts to speak with the male, at which point the suspect reached into the vehicle and touched the victim inappropriately. The suspect has been described as male, approximately 45-years-old, with a thin build, dark hair wearing a black toque, track pants and a dark grey jacket with black on the hood and shoulders. Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a robbery that occurred on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at approximately 6:55 p.m. Police responded to the area of Myers Road in Cambridge for a report of a robbery at a convenience store. A male entered the store and demanded cash from the employee. There were no weapons seen and no reports of any physical injuries. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled. Assault, Forcible Confinement, Weapons Dangerous

Location: CHANDLER DR, KITCHENER, ON Canada N2E 1G6

On January 13, 2020, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Chandler Drive in Kitchener for a disturbance. Upon arrival, police located a female barricaded inside a residence. A coordinated response of First Responders and extensive negotiations led to the arrest of the female. As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old Kitchener female was charged with several criminal offences including, Assault, Forcible Confinement, Weapons Dangerous, Unlawfully in a Dwelling House and Utter Threats.

Location: ELGIN ST N, CAMBRIDGE, ON Canada

On January 10, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store in the area of Elgin Street North and Avenue Road in Cambridge. Two males entered the store and demanded cash from an employee. The males fled shortly after in a silver vehicle. The first male is described as white, 20-30 years old, with a thin build. The male was wearing a dark hoodie and light pants. The second male is described as brown, 20-30 years old, and was wearing a dark hoodie and jeans. The investigation is ongoing. Location: LANGS DR and INDUSTRIAL RD, CAMBRIDGE ON Canada

On January 10, 2020, members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s South Division Drugs and Firearms team, with the assistance of the South Division Community Oriented Response and Enforcement (CORE) team, executed search warrants at a Coronation Boulevard residence and a Main Street residence, in Cambridge. As a result of the investigation, officers located and seized approximately two ounces of suspected fentanyl, a small quantity of methamphetamine, scales, packaging, debt lists and cutting agents. A 38-year-old male and a 36-year-old female, both from Cambridge, are charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Breach of Recognizance.

Theft Of Vehicle

Location: MONTCALM DR and LORRAINE AVE, KITCHENER ON Canada

On January 10, 2020, at approximately 11:40 p.m., members of the Central Division Community Oriented Response and Enforcement (CORE) team located a stolen motor vehicle operating in the area of Montcalm Drive and Lorraine Avenue in Kitchener. Police followed the vehicle to the area of Guerin Avenue and Florence Avenue, where two occupants fled the vehicle. A 20-year-old Kitchener male was arrested following a short foot pursuit. The male was charged with Occupy Stolen Motor Vehicle and Breach Recognizance. The other male is currently outstanding. The vehicle in this incident was stolen from a residential driveway on January 4, 2020, when it was left running to warm up. Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind residents to be vigilant and avoid leaving running motor vehicles unattended.

Hit And Run Of Crossing Guard

Location: SNYDERS RD W and BRENNEMAN DR, WESTERN INTERSECTION WILMOT ON Canada

On January 10, 2020, at approximately 7:50 a.m., a crossing guard was walking through a crosswalk in the area of Snyder’s Road West and Brenneman Drive in Wilmot Township when she was struck by a black pickup truck that was encroaching into the crosswalk. The pickup truck then drove off. The crossing guard reported minor injuries.
