Woolwich Township Plans To Reopen Some Recreational Services

Woolwich Township – The Elmira Splash Pad will reopen on Monday, July 6, 2020 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, seven (7) days per week (weather permitting). The splash pad will be fenced and supervised by staff as required by applicable Public Health guidelines and Provincial Orders. Only (40) people will be allowed within the fenced area at any one time. Residents will be able to access and enjoy the Splash Pad for a period of 45 minutes, by donation. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

There will be a “first come first serve” rule to allow residents equal time at the splash pad. Users must maintain physical distancing requirements. The outdoor washroom adjacent the splash pad will be also be opened on July 6th with enhanced cleaning.

Daycamp

The Township of Woolwich is also pleased to announce that day camps will be offered in Elmira and Breslau starting July 6, 2020 as permitted by Provincial Orders. Camp staff and protocols will adhere to Public Health guidelines. Staff fully appreciate that camp will look different in 2020 however, camp leaders are working hard to design fun and innovative programs for campers this summer despite numerous restrictions. Some changes you will see at camp include:

  • Smaller group sizes with their own space and washroom
  • physical distancing from other cohorts
  • Screening protocols, controlled drop-offs/pick-ups and facility access
  • Individualized camper supply packs
  • Enhanced and frequent cleaning and sanitation

Sportsfields

Sports fields are now open provided Provincial restrictions on physical distancing and gathering limits of 10 are adhered to, games are not permitted.

The gradual reopening of facilities aligns with the Recreation & Community Services Department’s Phased Reopening Plan endorsed by Council on June 16th, in addition to, Phase 2 of the Ontario Recovery Plan and Public Health guidelines. Further updates will be provided in the coming weeks on additional program and facility re-openings.
