Cycling Strategies and Safety

Municipalities in the Region have begun to review and comment on the Provinces new Cycling Strategy. The strategy is a progressive step towards recognizing the needs of cyclists and allowing for funds to create safe infrastructure for them. Some of The City of Kitchener's is recommendations include:
- Ministry of Transportation should adopt a policy that has roads designed for all users
- Cities and the province should work together planning for riders
- the MTO should establish a cycling infrastructure fund
Cycling and walking are viewed ways to make cities more livable, green, sustainable and safe.
Cyclists argue that the Province and Municipalities are working too slowly in the battle to create safe routes to cycle on. What are your thoughts? Do you feel safe cycling on the roads in the Region?
