Electric Bikes

I see a few people in my neighbourhood riding e-bikes around town. These bikes can be a great way to help people get around. Remember though, that you need to follow the law when you use them.
E-bikes can look a lot like motor scooters but they have pedals and are assisted by an electric motor. They are also regulated to a speed of under 32 km/h.
If you are considering purchasing one, or you have one already please be sure to understand the rules governing their use. Here are a few of them:
- Operators must be 16 years old or older.
- ALL operators must wear a helmet regardless of age.
You can find all of the details on the MTO website here.
