Sue Austin of WeAreFreeWheeling.org.uk has created a groundbreaking series of performance art videos in which she is featured swimming underwater in her wheelchair. The British artist loves the freedom she finds underwater in her wheelchair.
Her intention is to "transform preconceptions, create positive empowering images and inspire people on a Global scale". I think she's succeeded. You can watch her videos on YouTube . Prepare to be inspired by the haunting beauty and contradictions you see.
Ms. Austin has been featured on Ted Talks, and her works are sponsored in the UK. She recently toured in America inspiring other paraplegics with her accomplishments.
