Drunk Suits are a New Police Tool

Halifax Police and the Ford Motor Company were working together in Halifax to show people what being impaired is really like. Drunk driving is the leading cause of criminal death in Canada, and every day 4 people are killed on the roads in Canada by drunk driving.
The police equipped volunteers with weights on parts of their bodies, and had them wear special goggles and acoustic headphones to complete the simulation. They then had to perform a walk counting their steps aloud. Participants felt wobbly and disoriented.
Police hope that this campaign which is visiting schools and other special events will help to make people even more aware of how much alcohol will impact the ability to drive.
You can watch the simulation video here.
