Public Awareness of Concussion is Driving Increase in TBI Research

Recent large settlements and acknowledgements by professional athletic leagues have brought TBI awareness to the forefront of most people. This has had the benefit of educating parents and children to the dangers of TBI, and also of driving dollars to further research.
It's not only athletes and soldiers who face the serious consequences of sustaining TBI. Car accidents, slip and falls, workplace and home accidents all are significant sources of TBI and result in thousands of deaths a year in Canada in hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations.
The research is multi-disciplinary and much of it is showing great promise for the diagnosis and treatment of TBI. Hopes are high that there will soon be some success in the field of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of concussion / TBI.
