OPP Disappointed with 2014 Holiday RIDE

Linkedin

Impaired rates are up 20% in Southern Ontario this holiday season. The OPP are very disappointed with the results of the RIDE campaign.

OPP Sgt. Dave Rektor says "It's wrong and it's a criminal offence. We need people to buy into that because until attitudes change, it's going to be very difficult for the statistics to change."

Remember that if you blow .05 you will face a road side suspension, at .08 you will be charged with impaired. If you are convicted you will face:

  1. A criminal record
  2. Greatly increased insurance rates
  3. Fines and possible jail time
  4. One year licence suspension
  5. An ignition interlock when you are able to drive again

Please plan ahead if you head to a party. Have a designated driver, take a cab or hire someone to drive your car home for you, stay over if you need to. Please don't drink and drive.
