Driving on Country Roads

Linkedin

Two recent accidents, one in Brant County, and one in Waterloo Region, have highlighted the dangers faced when driving on country roads.

Too often, car drivers travel country roads at very high speeds, with little regard for the often reduced sightlines at hills and bends, and without thinking about the farm vehicles that lumber along on the roads. Now is a particularly busy time on the country roads as farms are getting on their fields to plant with large equipment being moved from property to property. Sadly, a collision between a car and tractor has devastating results for both vehicles.

I am aware of several farmers around he area who have forbidden their family members from turning left out of their driveways or turning left into their driveways when they are on farm vehicles simply because the risk of being hit by cars is so high.

Enjoy the country roads, but please slow down.
