Smartwatch use while driving not so smart.

The interpretation of laws will change as technology evolves. Case in point is the man who was charged recently for driving while using his smartwatch in Quebec.

M. Macesin was observed by police attaching an auxiliary cable to his phone. They pulled him over and charged him under a section of the Quebec Highway Safety Code "No person may, while driving a road vehicle, use a hand-held device that includes a telephone function".  He was fined $120 and given four demerit points for using his Apple smartwatch while driving. The man says he was under the impression that as long as he wasn't tapping away on the phone he could use it.

M. Macesin is contesting his ticket and is thinking of hiring a lawyer to represent him in court.
