In yet another high profile case in which a driver failed to note a construction zone on a highway we have a multi car crash and deaths and injuries. A transport truck driver failed to slow down and crashed into a slowing traffic and caused a large chain reaction of crashes. The truck had not slowed at all. Three people dies on the scene including a couple of young brothers.16 other people were hospitalized.
Given that the OPP report the road was dry, and visibility was good it would appear that inattention is the cause of the tragedy. Police are continuing to investigate and may lay charges against the uninured truck driver.
This was the second fatal accident along that stretch of highway in a week where construction has been ongoing. Police are blaming drivers for not slowing down, and not paying attention to the road. All construction zones have reduced speed limits for a reason. Police remind the public to be vigilant behind the wheel, to keep eyes on the road, and to avoid all distraction. It only takes a second to cause a tragedy.
