Public Service and the Community

Linkedin

Throughout my personal and professional life I have tried to instill by example the importance of public service and volunteerism to my children. I think that I have succeeded.

Giving back to your community whether that's by volunteering a couple of hours a month at the schools, coaching a team, leading at church, or running for public office, is what many of us do to make our communities stronger, more resilient and more compassionate. It's a rewarding feeling to help others.

Stats Canada estimates that 50% of Canadians contributed their time, energy and skills to groups and organizations such as charities and non-profits in 2010. They also determined that the number of volunteers is growing faster than the population which I think is fantastic.

Our family works hard in the community, and my firm and staff also take volunteerism very seriously. If you haven't been as active as you once were, or if you are new to volunteering you can find some great resources  here . If you are already volunteering then congratulations to you and thank you.
