Safety Training Continues To Be Top Priority At Local Schools

Morning And Afternoon Training Sessions Scheduled

Waterloo RegionWaterloo Regional Police in partnership with area Fire Services, St. John Ambulance, the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board are working together to ensure that safety is a top priority during this school year.

Approximately 2,000 student volunteers ranging in age from 10 to 14 years are participating in the annual School Safety Patroller Program which provides training on assisting children to cross streets safely, as well as instruction in basic first aid and bus evacuation procedures.

Upon completion of the program, the new patrollers will be seen at their posts around school areas wearing orange or bright green safety vests.

Training is provided each September to help set a tone around the importance of safety throughout the school year and to provide a reminder that everyone has a responsibility and a role to play in ensuring an incident- free school year.

Safety patroller training will be conducted with morning and afternoon sessions at Budd Park, Homer Watson Blvd., Kitchener.
