WRPS Officer Charged In Off-duty Incident Investigation

Police Service Professional Standards Branch Will Conduct Review

Waterloo Region, Ontario Waterloo Regional Police investigators have charged a twenty year member of the Service in connection with an investigation into an off-duty matter.

The member, a patrol sergeant assigned to South Division, has been charged with Criminal Harassment x 2, Utter Threats, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Making Harassing Telephone Calls.

The officer is scheduled for an appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kitchener on Wednesday February 11, 2015.

Additionally, the Waterloo Regional Police Service Professional Standards Branch will be conducting a review of the circumstances.

While the investigation continues, the member has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Police Services Act of Ontario.

The incidents are family-related and accordingly, disclosure of further details, including the name of the member, may identify the victim.
