Richardson Leads Rangers To 4-1 Victory Over Spitfires
Windsor, ONTARIO: Luke Richardson with 33 saves backstopped the Kitchener Rangers to a 4-1 victory over the Windsor Spitfires.
The Spits opened the scoring at 13:38 on a cross ice feed deflected by Will Cuylle.
Chase Campbell answered back on the Rangers third shot of the period collecting a rebound while driving to the net at 18:04.
The Spitfires outshot the Rangers 12-3 in the opening frame.
Greg Meireles with his 3rd of the season put the Rangers up 2-1 midway through the second period.
The score remained 2-1 until late in the 3rd when Rickard Hugg scored back to back empty net goals in a 0:22 span to secure the Rangers a 4-1 win.
Rangers rearguard Justin MacPherson had 3 assists on the night. Luke Richardson was named the game’s number one star for the second straight night as the Rangers improve their record to 3-0 to begin the season.
The Rangers return to Kitchener on Friday, October 5 versus the Saginaw Spirit at 7:30pm. The game will celebrate 50 years of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest through a Commemorative Jersey and Auction as well as game day celebrations including a ceremonial puck drop.
