Rangers Outshoot Colts 43-20

Win Sends Rangers To Top Of The Western Conference

Final: Rangers 5, Colts 2

Barrie, ON: The Rangers (24-11-3-2) travelled north on Saturday for a bout with the Colts (16-19-2-1). The Blueshirts had a dominant performance, outshooting the Colts 43-20 in a 5-2 win.

Riley Damiani, Greg Meireles, and Reid Valade each had a goal and an assist while Lucas Pfeil saved 18.

The Rangers opened up the scoring at 5:27 of the first period. Reid Valade broke into the Colts end on the left-wing, passed it cross-ice to Riley Damiani who then dumped it in front for Jonathan Yantsis (29) and the Rangers leading goalscorer tapped it past Jet Greaves to make it 1-0.

At the end of the first period, the Rangers led in shots 18-8.

Kitchener extended their lead at 6:34 when Damiani (16) beat Greaves to make it 2-0.

At 13:55, Reid Valade (14) was the benefactor of a Ranger-friendly redirection off a Donovan Sebrango shot and the right-winger made good on the opportunity to put the Rangers up 3-0.

Francesco Pinelli also picked up an assist on the goal.

The lead was extended again at 17:03 while shorthanded. Greg Meireles and Mike Petizian found themselves on a two-on-one break. Meireles passed to Petizian (9) who elected to keep the puck and go five-hole to make it 4-0.

Barrie got one back as time wound down in the period. At 19:13, Nicholas Porco (7) beat a screened Lucas Pfeil to cut the Colts deficit to three, 4-1.

After 40 minutes, the Rangers led in shots 31-16.

Matthew Sredl (3) scored at 6:14 to cut the lead in half, 4-2.

It didn’t take long for the Rangers to restore their three-goal lead. While shorthanded, again, Meireles (18) entered the offensive zone on the left-wing, deked around a Colts defender and went far-side on Greaves to make it 5-2.

The final shots on goal were 43-20.
