KITCHENER, ONTARIO: Having won the Reader’s Choice Platinum Award for its enriching summer camps, the Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth has adapted to the realities of COVID19 by taking their 2020 summer camps online!

This new alternative format is a virtual camp where kids can interact with friends, connect with camp counsellors, and learn about the captivating world of animals – all from the comfort of home!

“Animaniacs Online is an exciting opportunity to bring the world of animals to kids near and far. Throughout the summer, campers will virtually travel the globe to meet experts and learn all about animals. They will learn from presenters and their animal friends, create crafts, go on virtual nature hikes, and play fun games. Through the Canada Summer Jobs program, we have been able to hire some phenomenal staff who are excited to take campers on this unique journey.” said Kathleen McCaughey, Community Programs Manager, The Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth Humane Society.

Each week offers a different theme, including “Underwater”, “Safari”, “Exotic Animals,” “Rainforest,” and more. Campers ages 6 and up are welcome. The cost is $150 per week and camp hours are 9 to 3pm. Morning only or afternoon only registrations are also available at a reduced rate.

Vets in Training camp will also be available again this year. It will be an online program running from July 27 to July 31st. Each ‘Vet in Training’ will receive a special camp bag that includes veterinary scrubs and a stethoscope. This camp will offer 1 to 2 hours of training from a registered veterinarian as well as opportunities to participate in many fun activities. Campers aged 10+ are welcome. The cost is $270.

Registration for Camp Animaniacs is ongoing. Camps run from the beginning of July to the end of August. For more information, please visit the link below:
