Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision In Oxford County

'Vehicle strikes a loose horse standing on roadway - both driver and horse die as a result.'

(Oxford County, On) - Just after 5:30 a.m. on February 17, 2020, members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford County Paramedic Services, and Norwich Fire Department responded to a single vehicle collision on Oxford County Road 13. The preliminary investigation has revealed that the vehicle struck a loose horse that was on the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The horse has also died.

Oxford County Road 13 between Norwich Road and Pleasant Valley Road is closed for the investigation, and the public is being asked to avoid the area.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and the Oxford County OPP are continuing to investigate. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the Oxford County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
