COVID-19 vaccines have arrived in Ontario
General Rick Hillier
The first COVID-19 vaccines have arrived in Ontario. This is great news.
These vaccines are Health Canada approved and they are safe.
Our vaccine supply will not arrive all at once, so those in vulnerable circumstances and the health care workers of our great province will be the first to get vaccinated.
Until those vaccines are widely available, it is critical that we all continue to follow public health guidelines: practice physical distancing, wear a face mask, wash your hands frequently.
I encourage everyone to be patient. This is the biggest vaccination program in a century, and we expect that it will have its challenges.
We are working closely with Health Canada to plan for the next deliveries of the vaccine.
And we are committed to being as open as possible so the people of Ontario can follow along on the journey and know what to expect at each step.
This has been a very difficult period for all of us, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
